Newly licensed Ohio real estate professionals must complete a one-time post-licensing education requirement within their first year of licensure. Salespersons must submit proof of 20 hours of education no later than 12 months after licensure; broker licensees must complete 10 hours in the same window. The clock runs from the date the license is issued, not from the exam date. Kaplan Real Estate Education Coursework must be taken through a provider approved by the Ohio Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing, and typically covers Ohio real estate law, agency and fiduciary duties, fair housing, ethics, and practical business practices. Students must participate for the full number of hours credited, and daily course segments cannot exceed 8 hours in a single calendar day. Moarrealtors To satisfy the requirement, licensees email a copy of their course completion certificate to postcert@com.ohio.gov. Missing the twelve-month deadline can result in the license being placed on inactive status or suspended, barring the licensee from practicing until the education is completed and the license reactivated.
